Is Global Finance a good mortgage broker?

Global Finance is a good choice for buyers who want a broker with a wide range of lenders and help planning to pay off their loan faster. Its advisers are paid a salary, so their pay doesn't depend on which lender you choose. Global Finance has branches in Auckland, Hamilton and Tauranga, and also gives advice by video call to people elsewhere in New Zealand and overseas.

Which lenders Global Finance uses

Global Finance's disclosure statement lists ANZ, ASB, Westpac, BNZ, Kiwibank, SBS, Heartland Bank, China Construction Bank and AIA Home Loans, as well as non-bank lenders like Avanti Finance, Pepper Money and First Mortgage Trust.

What Global Finance costs

Global Finance usually doesn't charge you anything, because lenders and insurers pay it a commission, both upfront and ongoing. You may have to pay a fee if you decide not to take the loan it arranged for you, or if you refinance or repay the loan within 24 months. Global Finance gives you details of its commission and service charges when it advises you.

Global Finance may pay a referral fee of $250 to clients who refer someone who goes ahead with a loan. If it refers you to Tower for house or car insurance, Tower may pay it a commission of up to 10% of your premium.

The Mortgage Genius Plan

The Mortgage Genius Plan is Global Finance's own way of setting up a loan to pay it off sooner. Advisers may use a revolving credit or offset loan so your income and savings reduce the interest you pay. Global Finance says results vary with each person's situation.
